Pretty Puffs Slouch Hat

I found this FREE pattern on the web! I was so excited. I thought it was soooo cute. The person who wrote it used Lion Brand Cashmere. I live in the smallest town in the planet and the only place that I have to buy yarn is Walmart. They do not sell Lion Brand Yarn so, I just used some worsted weight yarn I had laying around. My hat didn't turn out as well as hers. Mine is a little stiff. So, I think when I head to the city for break I'll buy some of the cashmere yarn, and make another one.

Esther's Scarflette & Last nights Dinner :-)

I used the pattern from the first issue of k.1, but I used a thicker yarn so I casted on about 14 stitches less.

I had to add my dinner from last night to this post. It took 1 hour to prep and to do the initial cooking, 2 hours to defrost phyllo dough (oops I forgot to do that ahead of time!), 25 minutes to bake. And it was totally worth it! I was so delicious!

Ice Storm 2007 and recycled sweater bag

My power stayed on the whole time so I felt very lucky. My area got a little less ice than 50 miles to my East. I did see plenty of accidents on my way home last Sunday. Eek!

I am still working on this. I haven't put it together all the way yet. I got bored, but I think it'll be super cute when I get done.

Sweater Ornament

I decided to make this ornament for one of my classmates. During the summer semester Landon and I would joke that I should knit everyone sweaters, since the classroom was so cold. Well I don't have the money or the time to make 9 sweaters for real. But I thought it would fun to knit him a sweater ornament for Christmas since he STILL bugs me about making everyone sweaters! Well, Landon I finally made at least you a sweater. Although, I don't think it'll fit you. ;-)

I didn't have Christmas tree to model the sweater. So, I thought I'd use....a model. :) *pattern from Weekend Knitting*

Matching Purple Head Band

I've been wanting to make a matching accessory to my flip top mittens I made a month ago. And, I've been seeing these headbands all over the web and in magazines. They looked so cute and easy I thought this would be a perfect project for the yarn. This headband used very little yarn. I didn't even have to start on the second skein I have in my bin! Woo Hoo! I can make a scarfette too!

My headband on Melvin.

My headband on a me and my matching mittens!

Green Scarf

Lately, I been thinking about the Elvis scarf I've been wanting to make for my mom's friend. I thought to myself the other day, "An Elvis scarf would be super cool for someone my age, but would a 60 yr. old woman wear it? Hmmm, I think not." So, I've decided to scrap that scarf idea. Instead, I made this very simple scarf for her, which think is cute and very wearable.

Cutest Little Doggy (Baby) Hat Ever!!

My friend Heather has been knitting a lot of baby hats for her friends lately. She inspired me to do the same. Baby hats are such a quick knit! Last week or so I made a hat for my friends' 5 year old which took only a couple of hours. Today I just finished a hat for their 14th month old. The embroidery took the longest for me, because frankly I don't know what I'm doing. I still think it came out adorably! If anyone is interested in making this cute hat I got the pattern from this blog: http://notprettytowatch.blogspot.com/2007/10/pattern.html

Upcoming Project

Well, I think my next project (or one of them anyway) is going to be an Elvis scarf for my mom's friend. She loves Elvis! She has been my mom's friend since before I was born, and she is such an awesome person. I can't wait to get started! I think I am going to look for a chart already made of Elvis to save a step. If anyone knows where a good chart is let me know!

My new vest (and hat)

Well my computer may still be down, but luckily I have family with a working computer. Here are my pics of my new vest and one of my new hats (I gave the other one to my friend's little boy already so, no pic. for it.)

I am not "in love" with my new vest. I think I learned a very good lesson while knitting it though. Don't try to adapt a pattern if I've never knitted anything like it before especially clothing! Whew! I hate ripping out.

I think I would like it better if I made it longer and if the straps weren't as wide. I think I'll try it on with one of my collared shirts and maybe when I'm wearing it I'll cover the straps with my hair...heeeheee. No one has to know about my weird straps. ;-)

Considering everything I still think it came out okay for my first vest.

Well my computer still can't download pic.s so I thought that I would just write about my knitting progress.

I have had some issues with my vest I am making. At first, I didn't make the back long enough and the shoulder strap was also too short as well. I ripped it out and made the back longer and tried to knit a shoulder strap again. That time....I did the decreases for the right shoulder strap, only I was knitting the left shoulder strap. Erg... had to rip that strap out too. Now I am re-re-knitting the left shoulder strap with a new decrease pattern. I am really really hoping this time it will be okay.

Because I've been having so much trouble with this vest, I had to have some in between projects. So I made a hat for me and one for my friends 5 year old boy. Hurray for quick and easy hats!

My naughty computer

Well I've been wanting to post my knitting updates, but my computer is being naughty. I bought this computer over the summer and it has a built in memory card reader, which I thought was fantastic. Unfortunately, the reader decided that it no longer wants to work. :-( And, I don't have the cord for my digital camera. If it's still around it would be at my folks house an hour and a half away. Erg.

Over the weekend I think I might buy a new memory card. I am desperately hoping it is just my card with the problem. (Although, it works fine in my camera so that is probably not the issue.) I'll post some pic.s of my new knits when I can.

My new surprise vest so far

It's a surprise because I am just kind of winging it. I don't have a real pattern so who knows if it will fit when its done or what it will look like.
Some general spec.s: I CO 120 stitches and I made a 3x3 rib at the bottom for 3 1/2 inches. Then for the bust I added 6 stitches. It is mostly stockinette stitch, but with some purl stitches in different places that make it look like the top has cute little dots on it. (I hope that makes some sense.)

For the shoulders I am going to try to follow along the lines of the lotus blossom top (from the knitting daily website.) My vest has a lot less stitches than the lotus top. So, its time to break out the calculator again. Sigh.
I finished my second glove er mitten! My computer is being weird though and won't let me upload those pics from my memory card. I'll try again later. Otherwise you can get the gist of what the second one looks like. It looks just like the other one of course.

Second mitt

I am well on my way to completing my second mitt. I actually got a little bit further than this last night. I finished the top of the mitt, only to realize that the top diamond was smaller than on mitt #1. So later tonight I guess I will tear out the top of mitt # 2. (I really wish I would have written down how I did my decreases. Too late now!)

Ghost Pumpkin

I had to carve a pumpkin for Halloween. This picture came out blurry, but I think you can still tell what it is. Happy Halloween!!!

I got my camera back!

Here are some pic.s of my new mitts. Er mitt (so far.)

My Flip top mittens!

So I found the cutest pattern for fingerless gloves. They were supposed to resemble the one's worn by a character on Dr. Who's season finale. I loved the cable pattern. I had to make my cables a little smaller and cast on fewer stitches because my gauge was a lot larger than the pattern. The mitten I finished still looks great though. (I added a flip top to the fingerless glove.) I also added a button to hold down the mitten top when not in use. I should get my camera back this weekend, and I'll post a pic. In the meantime here is the link to the pattern. http://community.livejournal.com/knitting/7461309.html

Amigurumi!

I've been googling for some cute stuffed animal patterns and I discovered amigurumi! Amigurumi is a japanese style of making creatures (from what I understand.) I found a website, which has some amazing creations. There aren't any patterns, but the creatures are display like pages in a comic book. You must look at this website! www.ip2much.com/journal

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a couple of weeks. I have had some personal issues I've been going through, as well as, multiple tests that I have been trying to study for. Erg. Somehow, though, I have managed to knit this week. I have been working on a short sleeve shrug, and I finished it yesterday. (I did this instead of studying for my patho test. hmm....probably not a good idea.) I got the pattern from craftster.org It turned out okay. It looks much better on the girl who wrote the pattern. This is normal for me, so it was expected. I would have posted a picture, but I left my camera at my parents' house this weekend. They live an hour and a half away so I'll probably get it in a couple of weeks. I will post a pic then and I'll try to find a link to the pattern too. I am to lazy to look for the link now. ;>)

Lately I've been slowly crocheting another hat for my boyfiend. He liked the one I knitted for him a few months ago, and I felt like he needed one with a different style to it. I bought a beautiful wool silk blend that happens to not be itchy at all!!! Of course this hat is going to be black like the last one. That guy is my Johnny Cash, always in black. I'll post a pic when its done.

New hat

Okay so I couldn't wait for my wrists to heal! I just knitted slowly so I could finish my new hat. Please excuse my funny face in this picture. I think the flash cought me off gaurd. ;-)

Oh for the love of craftiness

I felt the need to be crafty, so I decided to play around. For some reason I have been loving owls lately, so I thought I should make one. Granted I have no idea what I will do with it, but I think it is cute and it was fun to make.

Fancy Halter

My wrists are still killing me from over doing it a couple of weeks ago, but I really really wanted to make something. So, I went through my pile of "UFOs" and found something I could finish. All I had to do for this top was to sew in the loose ends. Pretty easy, and I'm glad it's done. I do think that this top needs a lining....I'll work on that later. (I forgot which book I got this pattern out of if I remember later I'll post it later.)

ZOmBie JesUs Blanket Update!

I have been playing around with the picture I printed and have been calculating stitches, rows, and borders. I finally gave up! I wanted to make the blanket vertical instead of horizontal....okay seemed like no problem at first. I found a good cut off point from the cartoon I chose. But then...I realized that my blanket would really be almost a perfect square! Erg. And based on the design, my dimensions would have to be in multiples of ~3' X ~3'. Ahh! So my choices were to have an ittttty bitttty blanket or a HUGE ONE! I didn't like either option. With a small blanket it would just get stored in a closet, and with a large blanket I would get bored and frustrated so I know that I would quit, and I'd put it in my reject pile. Both options were horrible! My boyfriend gave me an UNBELIEVABLE present for my birthday. I have to do the same. Ahh the stress! . .......So I told him....the secret present I was going to give him..... failed. ;(
Since I wasn't going to end up making it for him, I felt no harm in telling him what it was going to be.....He freaked!!!!! Had to have it !!!!! Didn't care what size it was! He just had to have it!!! This renewed my confidence, and I told him I would continue to pursue my efforts. He also put in his 2 cents and what would help improve the design. ....He's a genius! He thought that my skeleton fish that I used in my 1st afghan (the one I am still working on) would look great as a border. Oh yes, this IS fantastic. They will look like skeleton zombie Jesus fish. Awesome!...gee... I sure hope I don't go to hell for all of this......buuuuut if you think about it...Jesus was the first zombie. :)Much love all! I'm back in business.

Cherry Red!

My boyfriend told me Wednesday that his friends, who recently eloped to Vegas, are having their reception this weekend. Hmmmm. I own two dresses... one white and one black and red. I ran into this dilemma earlier this month as well. And asked several friends, and I discovered that black is now okay for a wedding. Hurray! The only problem with my outfit was that I didn't have a stylish evening bag to match my dress. The last wedding I attended I carried around a big ugly clunker purse. I really didn't want to do that again. So, I decided to feverishly knit my ass off. Success! I finished my bag just in time for tomorrow! And it matches my shoes perfectly by the way.....I must say though...I think I might be getting carpel tunnel. Ouch!

2 Years Late...oops

My mom bought me a kit 2 years ago for this pillow. She said she liked the pattern and wanted me to make it for her. So I said I would. I finished knitting it several months after she gave it to me. (I was a very slow knitter back then, and I usually only knitted while at work...call center.) She called me the other day and asked about it. I had put it into my pile of projects that I never thought I'd finish...because I get bored. I felt bad, so I pulled out the knitted pieces, felt lining, and stuffing, and sewed and stuffed that sucker together! I also made some fun tassels for it. Finally one of my project rejects is finished! And it's only 2 years late! Thanks mom for the interest and much needed push! (I think this pillow would have looked better if I blocked it, but like I said I get bored, and....truthfully I am kind of a lazy knitter. Don't tell anyone, k? )

Bananas!

Just a bit of rendomness, my parents' banana plant is blooming! Who knew you could grow bananas in the midwest!

Almost Done!

I am soo ready to be done with this afghan! And I almost am. I think if I knit a little bit on it over the next few days I'll be done. Hurray!

Amanda's Flip top mittens

My friend Amanda had a birthday last week. I asked her what she wanted me to make her. She replied, "flip top mittens!" It took me a week to make them, so they are a little late. I don't think she'll mind though since it is still 90 degrees outside. ;)
